CDC WARNING - SYSTEM INTERDICTION
In late 892 independent vessels of unaffiliated sources grouped (dubbed "Viking") and attacked shipping in this system. Local forces were unable to suppress this activity. By 894 commercial traffic had all but halted. Recently neighboring systems have reported raids originating from Baten. Given the distance and cost, no external force has so far offered assistance. Those fleeing Baten report that the planetary authorities are colluding with or are under the power of the Baten "Viking" fleet. Current composition is unknown but obviously jump-capable. Given the starport capabilities it is assumed the Vikings can repair and construct additional ships.
