Several of the present political organizations are engaged in low-intensity conflict with each other. At least 2 of the political blocs possess nuclear weapons.

Most people on this world belong to one particular ethnic group, political party, or religious sect. Most of the army, however, belongs to another sect, party, or ethnic group.  There are 7 states on this world. The conflict level is Very High. The world is facing total war between rival powers and societies are fully mobilized for national defense. Civilian casualties tend to be high, often as the result of a deliberate policy to destroy productive capacity. At least one nation has used nuclear weapons on another - there are swathes of the planetary surface that are still radioactive and inhospitable.

Total population is estimated to be 122 billion, which is approximately 99% of the subsector sophont population. The majority of city dwellers subsist on nutrient-paste subsidies via automated dispensaries. Criminal justice includes off-world sentences aboard mining platforms that supply  (highly valuable) exogenous fissionable fuel to Verbt.

Birth control is strictly controlled by most factions.

CDC efforts to negotiate technological uplift are underway. Some proposals include colonial resettlement programs on directly managed worlds in the subsector. Authority planners have expressed a desire to build a naval facility in the system in the future.

Verbt's culture is extremely discordant, friendly, and very distinct. It could also be described as diverse, amiable, and unusual.
