This is a CDC research center for the subsector. The surface of the primary world is currently a vacuum, though there are indications that in the distant past it had an atmosphere. The CDC official denies any and all rumors that there are ruins of a previous sapient race on the surface.
The staff of the station are CDC employees: security, scientists, technicians, and a few family members. The station is a converted laboratory/exploration vehicle that was converted to an orbital starport in 850. Since then the materials for further craft construction have come from the numerous belts and moonlets of the system. There are 4 primary CDC research system craft that use the starport as a base. The majority of traffic from Austin, and the mainline beyond, is data or staff coming and going.
