 The Aeraviran Civil War

The Stormbringers and Nighthawks Take Fort Runuck

After defeating the Tyrant Celdro both groups secured the fort. A tribe of redskinned humanoids were in a drunken state, pillaging the town. A quick assertion of martial law established order and drove the redskins out. Charillos ascended the main keep tower, and cleared the top room. Within was a chest filled with coins and gems, though it was clear more had been taken. There was evidence of a quick exit by (perhaps) the 2 halflings spotted during the previous battle.

Ove used the helm of telepathy to query the Tyrant. This revealed his relationship with the female elf cleric, who also had fled after her betrayal during the battle, switching side and attacking the Tyrant with her undead. Now, she too had fled. Quick orders were given for the light cavalry to run her down.

The men returned at some point later. They reported that she had escaped through some marches into into the hills beyond.

The Stormbringers rested for a day then set off northwards on another errand for the City, but the Nighthawks remained to secure the area. A city official, the Representative, arrived to negotiate a fee for the fort's capture and bounty on the Tyrant. 24kgp were awarded and new contracts settled with the Nighthawks for another moth secure the fort.

The Stormbringers Move on Fort Yugg

A couple of days later the Stormbringers arrived at Fort Yugg but the place is dark and no one is around. The men sweat they can see shadows moving in the village and along the fort walls. Ove gives the order to fire-arrow the place. Volleys of fire-arrows are sent in, setting fire to many places, including the fort itself.

From the village and the fort dozens and dozens of red-eyed freaks emerge and charge towards them. The Stormbringers are ready with crushing missile fire, and no casualties are taken. The red-eyed freaks either run away or are killed.

While the fort is burning own, the Stormbringers moved into to take what they can. They manage to recover some of the arsenal there, weapons and armor alike. They note the gruesome carnage from some previous assault. Human remains are scattered here and there. Even in the village there is a large pit of partially consumed bodies.

The next move is to Xuc for rest and recovery.

On to Fort Westop

After conferring with the High Priest Winvid in Xuc, the Stormbringers sweep the nearby area before moving to Fort Westop. The patrols come up clean.

Nearing Fort Westop they see a siege is underway, with a mass of Oriskavians around the fort itself. They are greeted by Graf Venholtee, ruler of Oriskavia. He explains that he moved to take the fort after receiving "reliable intelligence" that the Arkabalans were preparing to take the fort for themselves. He pulls rank and conscripts the Stormbringers into his assault!

Ove manages to convince the Graf that a frontal assault will be a bad tactic. Instead he proposes a diversionary attack, with the real attack on the opposite side. Of the precious few siege ladders half are given to the Stormbringers.

The attack commences, and Stormbringers use their numerous missile troops to sweep the parapets of resistance, followed by fire bombs and then an infantry attack across a moat. The signal is given and the Graf begins their attack as well.

After some minutes the defenders wave a flag of surrender, as they are outnumbered almost 5:1 as men begin to ascend their walls.

After the battle Ove hires on as many as he can find, then decides to head north to hunt down some rumored hippogriff nests! He also learns that Oriskavia holds both Fort Seawatch and Fort Westop, effectively controlling the entire eastern coast of Aearavir's domain.
